Introduction to the theory and practice of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
For people already working in a therapeutic or support role with clients.
Learn and apply basic CBT tools, techniques and interventions into existing therapeutic approaches.
The course is delivered over four days, and teaches Cognitive Behavioural Therapy philosophy, theory and interventions.
Topics covered by this course include:
cognitions - unhelpful thinking styles, their effects and cognitive restructuring
conditional beliefs and rules for living
core beliefs - usually the underlying cause of emotional and psychological disturbance in a person’s life
behavioural change
assessment, formulation and treatment planning
rationale and application of tools, techniques and interventions in skills practice
To complete the course you need to submit a case study. This should demonstrate understanding and application of the CBT theory and interventions derived from the course.
To comply with course requirements, participants are allowed up to 3 months to submit this case study.
