Barbara MacDonald
BSc Psychology, SCOTACS Diploma in Counselling & Groupwork - a Cognitive Behavioural Approach

I am a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist working in the Glasgow area. I offer CBT using a collaborative approach in a confidential and compassionate environment to support you through a difficult time in your life. CBT is a talking therapy that uses a range of methods including psycho-education to increase your awareness and understanding of your difficulties. This understanding will allow you to develop the skills to change your thinking and behaviour, enabling real life changes. Working together is the key to success and I am committed to working with you towards meeting your goals.

I have a background in mindfulness and find that this approach works well alongside CBT therapy. The practice of mindfulness encourages you to focus on the present rather than ruminating about the past or worrying about the future. I aim to create a safe space where we can work together to meet your needs. In my practice I have experience of working with clients with a range of issues including; anxiety disorders and depression, low self esteem, anger and stress management, trauma and PTSD.

I am a member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). I follow their ethical guidelines and standards of practice.
