SCOTACS Diploma in Counselling & Groupwork - a Cognitive Behavioural Approach

I have thoroughly enjoyed studying psychology from 2011 and graduated from Heriot Watt University in 2015 as a graduate member of the British Psychological Society (BPS).

From there, I volunteered with The Mix offering telephone signposting support and also volunteered in a local mental health hospital shadowing counsellors and psychologists to gain experience. On deciding that therapy was a journey I'd like to embark on, I completed the COSCA certificate in counselling skills and went on to study the SCOTACS Diploma in CBT at the Centre of Therapy, graduating in 2018. From there, I continued to see clients at two organisations in the Renfrewshire area.

I became a member of the Centre of Therapy in 2019 and currently work for an Employee Assistance Programme as a Clinical Care Counsellor offering immediate support to individuals experiencing various presenting problems. These include anxiety, depression, stress, substance misuse and trauma, ensuring that the appropriate support is put in place for them. I adhere to the code of conduct and ethical standards of the BPS and also BABCP.

As a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist I can help individuals learn more about themselves and walk beside them through their experiences in confidence exploring their current situation by navigating through unhelpful thoughts and behaviour with an aim of promoting change.
